NAWAlution Gel –
For the treatment of acute and chronic wounds
Wounds that do not follow the normal healing process and do not heal within around four to 12 weeks are referred to as chronic wounds. In this context, chronic means ‘slow’ or ‘long-lasting’. The cause often lies in an underlying disease, such as circulatory disorders, diabetes mellitus or a weakened immune system. Chronic wounds occur particularly frequently as diabetic foot syndrome or as venous and pressure ulcers (decubitus ulcers). The diagnosis and treatment of chronic wounds require a thorough approach that takes both the wound itself and the underlying causes into account.
NAWAlution Gel is an odourless, alcohol-free gel for cleansing, decontaminating, coating and simultaneously moisturising dry and persistent wounds.
NAWAlution Gel can be used for the treatment of both acute and chronic wounds. It is suitable for repeated and multiple use and can be used in combination with commercially available wound dressings such as PU foams and compresses.
The application is really simple:

1.
Wash hands thoroughly
Wash your hands before treating with NAWAlution Gel. Rinse and clean the wound beforehand to remove easily removable impurities.

2.
Application
Cover the wound surface 3 – 5 mm thick with NAWAlution Gel or fill existing wound pockets*.

3.
Dressing change
NAWAlution Gel can remain on the wound until the next dressing change.

4.
Repeat application
The application should be repeated until all coatings can be easily removed and the wound appears visually clean.
* If wound fillers (alginate, hydrofibre) are used, these can be covered with NAWAlution Gel and applied to the wound.
Principles of optimal wound healing
Wounds heal faster in a moist and acidic environment, as cell growth and migration as well as wound closure occur more quickly. This also reduces the risk of scarring.

1.
Moist wound care
creates the right conditions for healing.

2.
A low pH-value
in the wound establishes an optimal acidic environment that promotes healing and protects the wound from pathogens.

3.
The trace elements zinc and iron
stabilise our products and support the wound healing process.
